House of Mercy: A new house church for New Haven

Joining with our sister churches in every Christian tradition, we hope to be a people who “act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly” with our God and Father (Micah 6:8). We want to keep in step with the Spirit to love and serve our neighbors. We aspire to witness to the good news of Jesus with our words and deeds and life together. We invite you to explore what life with Jesus — the one who invites one and all, “Come, follow me!” — can look like for you and your community.

Our desire is that we will all meet Jesus at House of Mercy. Our hope is to reflect the remarkable diversity of New Haven. No matter who you are, where you come from or how long you have lived here; no matter how rich or poor, your age, ethnicity, relationship status, educational background, voting status or affiliations, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical ability; whatever your achievements or mistakes - all are welcome at House of Mercy New Haven as we consider together the Love, Mercy, and Justice that Jesus brings to our world.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.

— Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Justice and Mercy go hand in hand

We believe we are called to offer Christ’s hope to a society dying from its addiction to power and wealth, and the angry, violent pursuit of individual freedom. We believe that this healing must be pursued both in one-on-one relationships, and in ways that address the deeper, root causes of human brokenness. May we all learn Christ’s ways of justice and mercy together!
